Why Doesn’t Friendly AI Exist? We Just Want C3PO.

We don’t want robots that look like death machines

The humanoid robots currently being built are straight out of a B-movie script.

I looked at the models displayed at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai last Tuesday and saw nothing that looked remotely friendly.

They all looked like walking death machines. They could hurl me across the room if I stepped on their freshly mopped floor.

I’m not sure where the creators of these robots get their inspiration, but they should look at pop culture to see what a lovable robot looks like.

If these companies want mass acceptance in the future, they need to see what robots captured our hearts in the past.

In 1962, everyone had a favorite domestic robot. It was Rosie, the robot from The Jetsons.
