The AI tsunami is here, but what do five futurists think about the dream of the intelligent machine?

Five visionaries see AI affecting humanity in multiple ways, but none are doom or gloom. They have high hopes for the way that technology is progressing. But there is room to grow.

According to these experts, AI’s path is on an upward trajectory and is just lifting off.

Teaming up with AI as a work buddy

Ray Kurzweil believes that AI will become more than a gadget used in the workplace. It will become more of a collaborative partner.

AI could understand how you work during the day. It would help you with creative or big-picture problems. He envisions augmented AI — where AI and humans combine to make a powerful team. It’s the opposite of the fear of AI replacing humans.

“Sometimes people talk about conflict between humans and machines, and you can see that in a lot of science fiction. But the machines we’re creating are not some invasion from Mars. We create these tools to expand our own reach.” — Ray Kurzweil
