I watched my company do another round of “workforce reductions” and I decided that I need to create my own future — you should consider creating one for yourself.
Unfortunately — no company, boss or visionary leader owes you anything. You can get great reviews one day and the next you’re shown the door since you are an “at will” employee. The end may come swiftly on a sunny Friday afternoon when you are asked to go to Conference Room A and you wonder why your friends are going to Conference Room B. Or maybe you get the word of your termination over a hastily scheduled Zoom call.

For all you 9–5’rs — how prepared are you when this happens? Emergency fund paid up? Got your resume updated? Did you clean all the personal items out of your desk in case the axe falls?
