If Your Boss is Missing the 3 “F”s — You Have a Damn Good Boss
See if your boss is missing this important letter.
Many articles list the qualities good bosses have. But, are there any articles about the qualities your boss shouldn’t have?
The best boss I ever had (let’s call him John) was missing three key traits. They set him above being a “good” boss. He didn’t realize that he was missing these traits, and he was a better leader because of it. I labeled his deficiencies as missing the three “F”s — let’s see if your boss is missing this critical consonant.
No filter
When bosses speak they are usually afraid of what kind of minefield they need to cross to make their point.
John was honest to a fault and usually blurted out the first thought that popped into his head. Employees respected him. He offered honest opinions, even though he was quite “colorful.” I always knew where I stood with him when I worked for him even though he was a bull in a China shop.
His unique style taught me to always be honest with my coworkers to a fault, but I learned to be a little more tactful.
No fear
Meetings with upper management would scare most employees, but not John.
