After 30 days of posting an article a day on Medium I made 70 cents — here are five reasons why I didn’t have more success.
My headline were garbage
Headlines are what get the reader engaged.
I need to work on making catchier headlines. I’m reading articles and books from Nicolas Cole, Tim Denning and other prominent headline writers to learn how to get people to be interested in my story. Keep writing headlines every day until you get good at writing them. Never use the first headline you think of for an article — the current headline took 9 revisions since I went the opposite way instead of the usual “I made several million dollars on Medium” type of headline.

Images grab you and pull you in.
An image needs to stop you dead in your tracks when you are choosing one to support your story. Proven writers say they get more engagement from an article on Medium with a human face. I’m concentrating on using only humans going forward to get people to engage with the article.
