Humanity’s Worst Traits Are AI’s Dark Side
AI is the unwitting victim
AI isn’t the problem — humans are.
Garbage in, garbage out. It’s a common phrase in software. If you input the wrong information, you will get an incorrect result. This is true even if the program’s logic is sound.
Unfortunately, it’s the same for AI. People always find new ways to abuse technology and use it against itself. It’s happened time and time again, and it’s happening when AI is getting its day in the spotlight.
Some people just want to see the world burn. AI magnifies the failures. It is supposed to benefit humans and advance our society.
But can we stop punching ourselves in the face by using AI as an unwitting pawn?
Trolls populate the echo chamber
Siri, Alexa, and Cortana — are all household names, but do you know if the fallen AI angel named Tay?
In March 2016, Bing and Microsoft launched a chatbot on Twitter. They did it to do research and experiment with “conversational understanding.”
They launched it despite Tay’s bio saying, “AI fam from the internet that’s got zero chill!”.
That alone should have been the signal of her impending doom.
