Everyone tells you to niche down as a new writer.

In other words, stop being a spazz.

Over Twitter the other day Ayodeji Awosika said:

He’s right, I was a new writer on Medium and it looked like I was taking the “spray and pray” mentality to my writing.

The solution was staring me in the face all along.

My whole career I’ve been a project manager and I thought that I would “get away” from it and write about other subjects. I like talking with friends about retirement, Bitcoin, and writing. But these topics were only tangents from what I am at the core of my being — they were superficial interests or flashes in the pan.

I am what’s called a processor — which fits in with being a project manager.

I like things orderly, in their place and moving at a planned pace. I hate chaos and the “fly by the seat of your pants” mentality. The world needs a grounding wire and I’m that person that’s planted fully on terra firma.
