Implement these steps to bring focus to your writing

I’ve been listening to a lot of Dan Koe videos at work and he had a three step framework to writing that I jotted down to try to make my writing struggles a little easier.

Find the problem

Everyone has problems any your goal as a writer is to lead them through the path to the solution.

Starting with the headline to this article — simplifying your writing style. Writers get too wordy. The concepts are too complex. Readers have limited attention spans.

As a writer my job is to walk you through the article to a solution — we identify the problem at the start and keep the focus on the problem throughout the story.

How is this problem impacting people’s lives?

Everyone hates pain and discomfort and you need to expose that pain point and explain how it’s making your reader search for a solution or input.

We may have personal experience that we can bring to the table since we know firsthand the way this issue will affect the reader and how we dealt with it in the past.
