Heap this one on the time management pile of stories that may or may not have unattainable goals for the working man. Medium may have a quota on these articles it needs writers to fulfill, but I’ll feel the inexplicable need to share my quest for more time. Wait… come back…

Like most of the fledgling writers on this platform I work at a normal job from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. In these 9 hours I get an hour for lunch. I’ve been working at my current place of employment for nearly six months at the time of writing this and unbelievably — this work/time pattern is remarkably consistent. In my other jobs you needed to work overtime or skip lunch to fit in more work.

Maybe I have some serious time management skills and I’m able to get things done, but the job seems to be pretty predictable. Fingers crossed that my boss isn’t reading this article.

“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” — Paul J. Meyer.

Even with a schedule that pretty much ran like clockwork, I kept looking at my schedule and I couldn’t figure out how to shoehorn in the time to outline a paragraph — much less write a 700–1000 word article.
