4 Life Lessons I Learned From My Man Crush
You may secretly crave the life he has built
Most people don’t believe me when I say I have a man crush on my neighbor.
He left the corporate workplace over 30 years ago, started woodworking and his pieces became collectible art — his work is well known in certain circles. We’ve known each other for years, but we’ve started becoming better friends since our wives attend the same pottery class. Over breakfast one day surprisingly learned that his life is pretty simple because he does one thing all day — create.
He had reached the pinnacle of his profession— he has no boss.
People seek him out to do the artwork or he gets referrals, and he does everything at his own pace. Work is not rushed or compromised, he has patrons that actually commission him for bigger pieces and they pay for his expenses if needed. He has final say over the pieces he creates and when they are finished.
These four straightforward lessons are what I learned from him.
