I’m a project manager and you need manage your time and other people’s workloads — so finding efficient solutions are the key to getting the most out of your day.

Everyone’s heard of the Pareto Principle — (a.k.a the 80/20 rule) which means the 80% of all outcomes are affected by 20% of inputs. Vilfredo Pareto didn’t discover this principle — in 1897 he just noted that 80% of the land in England was owned by 20% of the people. He wasn’t trying to manage his time at all — what a slacker.

The Law of Three

No matter how many tasks and responsibilities take up the time in your month there will be three key tasks that have the most weight.

How do you figure out what they are?

First, you start by listing all the tasks, meetings and obligations you have throughout your day. There could be an infinite number of tasks, but usually there are 30–50 things we need to do.
